The library holds basic or intermediate computer classes each month. Specialty classes for Microsoft Office applications, digital cameras and more are held periodically. Both day and evening classes are available. Those interested should sign up at the library's adult circulation desk or register online. A three-session TechRiders class to train beginners on basic computer operations. The first session focuses on the computer’s hardware components and its operating system including the monitor, mouse, keyboard and printer. During the second session, word processing enables the participants to write and format a letter or flyer using a computer. The third session covers the Internet and using E-mail. The basics of using the Internet to surf the Web and communicate with others using web-based E-mail services are the focus. The three sessions in each class cover:
Basic Computer Operations
The first day focuses on the computer’s hardware components and its operating system including the monitor, mouse, keyboard and printer.
Word Processing
This session enables the participant to write and format a letter and flyer using a computer.
The Internet and using E-mail
The last session focuses on the basics of using the Internet to surf the World Wide Web and communicate with others using e-mail
The benefit of attending these classes is that the participants will be gaining skills and knowledge about computers and their use in a friendly and non-threatening way. At the completion of the course they will be comfortable using the latest form of communication in our society, at home or at the library. |

This is a four-day comprehensive Internet training class consisting of three parts:
Using the Web
The first two days you will explore the history of the Internet and how it works and learn how information is organized on the Net. Learn how to find specific websites and how to use popular search engines. Emphasis is placed on developing search techniques and avoiding common mistakes.
E-mail Plus
This one-day session begins by reviewing the basics of using web-based E-mail services. Participants will obtain a Yahoo email address and explore using it. They will learn about filters, sending attachments and much more.
Internet Safety
In this session, you gain a basic understanding of Internet safety, how to deal with spam, viruses, spyware and other malware and how to prevent identity theft. The session also includes information on safe online shopping |

Does the operation of your digital camera confuse you? If so, this two-day workshop is for you! This is a hands-on class where you bring your own camera and camera manual. The first day you will learn basic camera operation and what all that jargon really means. The second day you will learn to be creative with your picture taking. Go on a photo shoot and learn how to transfer and edit your pictures using Google Picasa*.
