Volunteer at the Mathews Memorial Library

Individual volunteers donated more than 880 hours of work for the Mathews Memorial Library in fiscal year 2019.

You too can join our group of dedicated volunteers! You can make a big difference in the quality of library service in Mathews by sharing your time and talent.

Library volunteers work side by side with the staff in many library activities. There is an ongoing need at the Mathews Library for help checking books in and out, sorting and shelving, shelf-reading, assisting with special projects and more.  Volunteers are needed to assist with both adult and youth services.

You will be able to . . .

  • acquire new skills
  • expand your social horizons
  • serve your community
  • keep up with the latest books
  • help our patrons, and be appreciated for it

What is expected of you?

  • respect the public and be responsive to its needs
  • be willing to learn
  • meet the schedule and length of service that you have committed to library

Our volunteers have a wide range of backgrounds, interests and talents. Some do short-term projects, and some stay for years! We welcome your gift of time, whatever it may be.
