2023 Youth Summer Program
HOME | NARRATIVE | CALENDAR | REGISTRATION
Young adventurers take note! The secret is out and is about to be revealed at the library’s summer program in July. Plan to attend in order that you don’t miss out on exploring and learning about this amazing secret. Friendship is the magic ingredient that makes everything more exciting and more fun. A simple fact – “It’s Better Together.” The 2023 summer program will explore the many ways to build friendships which will mean a better world for everyone.
On Tuesday, July 11th, our journey into the magic land of friendship will begin when we share our ideas on what it means to be a friend. Many stories have been told, and we will hear about the power of friendship and how teamwork makes the dream work. The theme for this year’s program will include exploring the importance of friendship, not only in our community but also in the animal kingdom. This calls for exciting trips to places you may not have visited, including the Science Museum and the Museum of History and Culture in Richmond, Virginia.
At the library, beginning on July 11th, if you are between the ages of 6 and 12, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of each week during July will be devoted to you. In addition to Lemonade Lectures on Tuesdays and Discovery Days on Thursdays, each Fridays will be an opportunity to make your statement in Creative Activities. Wednesdays are reserved for “Tales to be Told” for preschoolers through kindergarten who will hear tales about the Builder Brothers who learn it’s
“Better Together” and other tales.
Scheduled activities will be held each day between 10 am and noon unless otherwise noted. Lemonade and cookies will be served after each program, except during Discovery Days when participants will need to bring a lunch.
Registration is required along with parental approval (Field Trip Permission Slip) for all Discovery Days events. Children who do not attend the Lemonade Lecture but who wish to join in the field trips on Fridays will be asked to cover the cost of their admission. Otherwise, participation in all activities is available at no charge.
