CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chairman Jim Pavik at 5:07p.m.  Jim introduced Alexis Foster our newest member.

ATTENDING: Sue Jennette, Carolyn Taylor, and Alexis Foster.  Also present were Bette Dillehay, library director, and Joanna Ball, president of the Friends of the Library. Absent was Nancy Fisher, Dana Brown, and Jackie Ingram.   

MINUTES: The minutes of the March 9, 2021 board meeting were approved as presented.

REPORT OF THE DIRECTOR: The attached activities and financial reports cover the two-month period ending April 30, 2021. (See attached reports.)

       Bette Dillehay reported on two Community Foundation Funds:

         Norma von Brock Fund and the Mathews County Library Endowment Fund.  Both are doing well allowing staff to take online courses dealing with “Library Management” and enabling a college scholarship for a qualified high school student.

 NEW BUSINESS:

• Facility maintenance: The Director mentioned that repairs to the library have been delayed and need to be completed.
• Donation to the Library: A donation to the library was made by Samuel Forrest, a county resident. It was suggested it be placed in the Community Foundation funds designated for the library.
• Scholarship award: Three applications were submitted by high school seniors for the Library College Scholarship. One was selected as meeting the criteria for the scholarship.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 13, 2021.
