Annual Highland Games This program has been a part of the library's repertoire for more than two decades! Kids ages 6 to 14 can participate in our version of the traditional Scottish Highland Games, using giant cardboard tubes to "Turn the Caber" instead of trees, throwing cabbages in "Clachneart" instead of throwing stones, and pitching a burlap bag in the "Sheaf Toss" instead of a hay bale. Enjoy the sound of bagpipes and drums as we start our program with a performance by the Kilmarnock Pipes & Drums and conclude with our giant "Tug-o-war". Lunch is provided to children participating, as well as a free t-shirt!

Calling all families of preschoolers from birth to 5 years! The library has a reading program to help you prepare your youngster to enter kindergarten ready to read. Reading 1,000 books to your preschooler may sound daunting at first, but you are probably already doing it and just don't realize it. You can set your own pace; it can be a multi-year project. Come into the library's Youth Wing to register and get started.
