Board of Trustees Minutes - January 10, 2023

BOARD OF TRUSTEES
JANUARY 10, 2023
 

CALL TO ORDER:    The meeting was called to order by Dana Brown, Secretary,  due to no other elected official attending.    Also In attendance was Bette Dillehay, Joi Ball, Michael Miskovsky, Alexis Foster, and Rob Quartel.   We were informed that James Pavik had resigned due to his health. 

A new trustee will be appointed at the next County Board of Supervisors meeting.

Dana shared an article from the Glimpses in the Past Gazette-Journal about the Mathews Memorial Library.

Bette Dillehay stated that the holiday celebration in the Library was well attended.  The theme,  “Capture the Magic”, was enjoyed by young and old.

In Bette’s Financial report active patrons was 10,623.   Noted that the 50 Wi-Fi units available has been widely used and only 2 units were not returned as requested.

Bette shared the idea to share library books using the Meals On Wheels program in the county.   The Amazon Fire program is a possibility to generate more readers.

Bette is pursuing the selection of a youth services assistance who will be a part-time member of the staff.

Joi Ball representing the Friends of the Library reported on the FOL meeting in November.

A  20 year celebration for the FOL and also for Bette, our Librarian.  The Gazette-Journal did an article recognizing the great accomplishment.   

She announced that a large donation to the FOL had been received.   With that donation the Friends hope to repair the pagoda enhancing that area. 

Under New Business the Budget Request was provided for our review.  A motion by Rob Quartel to accept this Budget as provided.   Alexis Foster seconded the motion.   Budget was approved by all.

Bette reported on the night hours used at the Library.   Only 3 patrons came in during December for the open night.   A request will be made to eliminate night hours.

Each Trustee received the Bylaws for our review.    This will be discussed at the March meeting.
