MATHEWS MEMORIAL LIBRARY
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
JANUARY 11, 2022
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chairman, James Pavik at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
ATTENDING: James Pavik, Dana Brown and Bette Dillehay, Director. From the Library Staff was Greg Lewis, Colanne Bunting and Maude Donovan. Also attending by Zoom was Alexis
Foster, Carolyn Taylor, Sue Jeanette, and Joi Ball, FOL President.
Chairman, James Pavik, opened meeting asking if all had read the previous minutes from the November 9, 2021 meeting. All acknowledged and an approval by all members was made. James Pavik thanked Bette for serving the interim term of County Administer. Bette served 3 weeks which ended on January 6, 2022.
REPORT FROM THE DIRECTOR: Bette introduced each team member( Greg Lewis, Colanne Bunting and Maude Donovan) of Library Project Group who successfully managed all sections of the business of the Library during her interim position. She thanked them for a job well done.
Since the Covid restrictions have increased, the in-person meetings are being held using Zoom from the Library. Middle schoolers who have been using the library due to school renovation has curtailed.
With Tax time coming a Tax Team will be coming on Feb. 4 to set up and be available for the residents.
Greg Lewis gave a report on his responsibilities monitoring the library. Keeping up on the grants such as (ARPA) American Rescue Plan Act, and(CARES) Coronavirus Aid Relief and
Economic Security. There have been 10 new laptops added for the literacy program. Maude Donovan reported on the VMRC program that the library provides for the local
crabbers. 5 staff members have been trained for the online program. This program officially begins this month instead of manual surveys. Expanding the online to all fishermen is now a possibility that the library will be helping all our fishing industry. Colanne Bunting has been responsible for all bills and payments from the Library. The Covid home test was available at the library on Monday. We received 144 kits and in 2 days distributed 140. No more kits available to be ordered at this time. The project of scanning Mathews High School Yearbooks 1977-2001 has been accomplished. They are now digitized for our residents to view at the library.
REPORT FROM THE FRIENDS: Joanna Ball, Friends President, reported on the new upcomingofficers. President, Joanna Ball; V-Pres - Vicki Ameroute; Recording Sec-Bobbie Hatten; Corresponding Sec- Jan Towne; Treasurer- Cathy Nelson. Report from the Book Store showed an increase revenue of 170% over targeted amount.
Bette Dillehay presented the Budget Request. A proposal of $55,000 more is being submitted. A 5% increase across the board for staff members was presented. President, James Pavik
formed a letter noting the differences in the county salaries compared to the staff salaries at the library. This letter will be sent along with the Budget Request to the County.
Meeting was adjourned at 5:40pm. The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
