Board of Trustees Minutes - November 14, 2023

BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2023


The Board of Trustees Meeting was called to order at 5PM by Carolyn Taylor. Those in
attendance were Bette Dillehay, Michael Miskovsky, Dana Brown, Deona Pavik, Rob Quartel
and Joi Ball.
Due to no quorum for the September meeting there were no minutes.
Bette gave the financial report which showed a 3.8% decrease of the operational expenses
for the past 2 months. The budgeted amount for salaries had a 5% increase due to less
volunteers being used. Regular paid employees were used to cover the work needed.
Comparing to the previous year’s patron count, 2.47% increase shows the count at 10,849.
There is an increase of the electronic materials circulated.
The Annual Howl-A-Palooza party was celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 28. 75 youth and parents
participated in games, costume contest and the parade along Main Street.
Carol McCormack, head of youth services, conducts four story time sessions a week; two onsite
and two at day care centers. The youth book club is attended usually by 12-15 youth
Maude Donovan, head of teen services, has implemented 3 programs: Dungeons and Dragons
Club, Anime Club and a mythology group. Also there are 5 classes for Tech Tues with 47
attending.
Bette is also interested in establishing a telemedicine class.
Joi Ball ,representing the Friends, stated that the annual meeting was held today with 18
attending. New officers were elected with Viki Armentrout the new president.
Old Business:
Library Hours, from the previous survey ,have been altered to close at 5pm on Thursdays.
The Pergola is out for bid for a permanent structure designed by Frances Hudgins. -
The roof is fixed.
All painting done.
The Chiller is still working but a new contract will be coming up.
New Business:
Discussion and comments were made on the Collection Development Policy.
Public Comment:
Rob brought up the discussion on the possibility of a plug-in capability for electric cars in the
area behind the library. Planning for the Future!!
